Photo Gallery Of Home Construction In Costa Rica

Here are some photos I took of a home construction in Costa Rica. This particular house is being made from SIP panels which are a heavy duty styrofoam type of material.

The advantages of this can type of home construction can be read about in this post about building a house in Costa Rica. The short version is SIP panels can be used to build much quicker than concrete which is what is normally used for Costa Rica home construction.

These photos are in chronological order and you can see the captions by hovering over the thumbnails with your mouse cursor.  If you have any questions about using SIP panels for constructing a home in Costa Rica let me know by commenting below.

Very nice and interesting construction type. What’s the approximate cost of construction per Sq feet?

Hi Jean Jules, the approximate construction cost was about $722 U.S. per square meter if my calculations are correct. It could have been cheaper if we hadn’t splurged for stronger steel post construction and had we not added extras like metal steel cabinet structure and a bodega above the bathroom and some other options we chose.

Nice job, but $90.00 a s/f is a little steep.

Hi, not sure how you came up with $90 a square foot. I get $67 a square foot.
That included EVERYTHING except paint in and out which we did later. Most people quoted me $80-85 a square foot when I was shopping around for a builder.

Robert not sure where you got that figure of $90 sq ft but it’s not accurate. If I said it here I don’t see it and if I did say it I was wrong. It’s more like $50 a square foot. Big difference! Tried to contact you but your email address appears to be wrong.
