Toucans and Monkeys in Costa Rica

One of the reasons I was attracted to living in Costa Rica is the nature. It's everywhere!

Get just a mile or two outside of any town and you begin to see forests: rain forests, cloud forests, jungle... All kinds of wild life: hummingbirds, iguanas, toucans, monkeys, ducks, wild turkeys, etc.

Here where we live we hear and see toucans on a regular basis and to me they are one of the most beautiful birds in the world!

Yesterday we were fortunate enough to see 2 toucans right outside our house and I was able to get some photos of them. Check out the slide presentation I made here:

Later in the day we drove into town and just a 1/4 mile or so down the road we saw a whole family of monkeys in the trees next to the road. Must have been 15 or so of them - white faced monkeys or "carablancas". I've seen them many times but for me it's always fun to see them and reminds me of the wonderful natural area I live in!

Costa Rica is indeed the "Rich Coast" full of natural treasures like toucans and monkeys!
